Aimee L. Kaplan is an associate at Collard & Roe, P.C. Her practice encompasses trademark clearance, prosecution, counseling and litigation. She has prosecuted over 950 trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and numerous copyright applications before the U.S. Copyright Office. She has also handled assignment, change of name, and recordation of other written documentation before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office for a major German chemical company and a major U.S. financial institution, among other clients. She has worked on litigation matters for a major Norwegian furniture company, and appeals, opposition and cancellation actions before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Trademark Trial and Appeal Board for numerous clients.

Aimee is the Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee for the Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA) and serves as a team leader on the Young Practitioners Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA). Aimee is also a member of the International Intellectual Property Society (IIPS), New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), and the American Bar Association (ABA). For several years, Aimee wrote monthly articles for The Attorney of Nassau, and has also published articles in the Suffolk Lawyer as well as other legal publications. She has been quoted in articles about protecting trademarks which were published in Newsday and the Chicago Tribune.  Her article "Tips for Training New Trademark Personnel" was published in the INTA Bulletin in October 2009.

Prior Experience
Before joining Collard & Roe, Aimee was an associate at a firm in Columbus, Ohio where she specialized in trademark prosecution and counseling and general business matters for clients of all different sizes ranging from large multinational corporations to individuals. In Columbus Aimee served as the Social Chair of the Columbus Bar Association New Lawyers Committee; Silent Auction Chair of the Executive Babe Golf event; a member of the Junior League of Columbus; and the founding member of Women’s Happy Hour, a professional women’s networking association, in addition to her other volunteer activities. She was selected as a Barrister Leader by the Columbus Bar Association and later participated in the Barrister Leader Planning Committee.
 

Speaking Engagements                                                                                             Aimee spoke to the Suffolk County Bar Association IP Committee on February 16, 2010 regarding the Madrid Protocol.   Aimee spoke on the topic "Global Branding: A Discussion about the Madrid Protocol and its effects on Global trademarks" held at St. Johns University School of Law on October 7, 2009. 

Aimee hosted an International Trademark Association (INTA) roundtable on the topic "The Madrid Protocol - A View from the U.S." held in New York City on July 16, 2009. The roundtable was attended by approximately thirty trademark professionals from law firms and companies located in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Delaware, and Indiana.
                                                                                                                                                                     Aimee spoke to over ninety medical professionals on the topic "Trademarks: How To Protect Your Mark(s)." The presentation was part of a two day seminar sponsored by UPMC Mercy and Mercy Heart Institute and held at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion, Pennsylvania in 2008.
