Christopher Garvey

Mr. Garvey joined the firm of Nolte, Nolte and Hunter, P.C. in 1986 [established 1918] as a Patent Attorney.

He wrote and successfully prosecuted patent applications on mechanical devices, electronics, computer programs, optics, medical devices and procedures, construction methods, games, toys, fasteners, lasers, and other devices and methods.
He appealed successfully on the patentability of: software, printed matter, and a method of playing a musical instrument.
He litigated on patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and contracts, but also negotiated to avoid litigation.
He negotiated contracts and settlements on behalf of inventors, programmers, writers, and software designers and on behalf of employers.
He wrote software to assist in patent prosecution.

After Mr. Hunter’s death in 1998,  he brought the Nolte, Nolte and Hunter practice to Collard and Roe, P.C.

He has conducted lectures and Continuing Legal Education Programs at various law schools, schools, associations, and Bar Associations.
After 1981 he was a Patent Attorney at several major New York law firms:

He was nominated by the Conservative Party for New York Supreme Court Justice – Bronx County – several times between Sept. 2000 to 2004 [declined 2004].
 

He is authorized to practice in NY Courts; Federal Courts: Eastern District NY and Southern District NY; Federal Courts of Appeals: 2nd Circuit and Federal Circuit ; US Patent & Trademark Office


In other Fields:

He was on the ballot as Libertarian Candidate for Governor of New York in 1998, and  for Presidential Election – 1996, 2004.
Before becoming an attorney, he was an engineer, sailing instructor,  sail-maker, licensed charter-boat captain, commercial artist,  industrial designer, and telephone installer and repairman, and a medical instrument technical expert.
