Stewart J. Bellus

Stewart Bellus has practiced intellectual property law for more than two decades, and is the senior trademark attorney at Collard & Roe, P.C. His practice encompasses all aspects of U.S. and foreign trademark law, including clearance, prosecution, policing, counseling, licensing and litigation, as well as the filing and prosecution of oppositions and cancellations. He has represented a wide range of clients, including a well-known U.S. bank seeking registrations in over 60 countries, a leading international seller of artificial nail care products, a major German chemical company, and a well known non-profit organization dedicated to animal adoption. According to one trademark research group, Stewart was ranked # 12 in the world in the number of trademark applications filed at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2003. In 2002, he was ranked # 15.

Prior Experience
Before joining Collard & Roe, Stewart was an associate at an intellectual property boutique in New York City. Prior to that, he served for five years as an examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, earning the highest ratings possible throughout his tenure. He also was selected for several special details and projects with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, the Office of the Assistant Commissioner for Trademarks and the Office of Solicitor. In 1988, he received a U.S. Department of Commerce Bronze Medal Award for superior federal service. In his earliest days of legal practice, before becoming involved in trademark law, Stewart was an Assistant Attorney General in Florida, representing the state in criminal and constitutional law appeals.
